Golden Glow

This weekend Marc and I finally got a chance to shoot some photos for the blog.  With weddings, long weekend getaways and lots and lots of work, we just hadn’t had the time to get in a good shoot. Lucky for us Sunday afternoon we spent in Marin. The gorgeous weather finally gave me the chance to wear some of my much neglected summer wardrobe. And after lazying about for most of the day we went for an evening stroll and were caught in the most beautiful golden glow. Hope you’re all having an amazing week so far.

Out of the Fashion Box: DIY Marble Nails

Polish

Base Coat: Orly Bonder, Base Color: Chanel Coco Blue, Accent Colors: OPI Cuckoo for this Color and Russian Navy, Topshop Blue Monday, Top Coat Deborah Lippmann Addicted to Speed

While I am no newbie to nail art, there are a few looks I have always been timid to try. A few months back my good friend Francesca posted a DIY for marble nails over on her blog Polishment. I was obsessed, Francesca’s “Black Pearl” nails were shimmery and beautiful and subtly bold — I had to HAVE them.
After many weeks of contemplation I settled on a beautiful blue palette and got to work. Let me tell you this was not the easiest of nail art DIY’s and I ended up enlisting a helper, Marc, who doubled as the photographer. Check out the full list of tools and directions here, on Polishment.

Quick Snaps

insta snapette

All photos Instagram and Snapette

I’ve never been a big photo taker, I love pictures I jut never seem to feel the need to take out my phone and snap. Marc being an avid lover of Instagram told me I would like it, so after years of ignoring him I decided it was time to bite the bullet and start documenting my every whim.  After a few weeks of snapping away I was asked to try the app snapette, which is basically Instagram for fashion lovers combined with shopping recommendations from other users who snapped in your neighborhood. Now, a few weeks in, I have quite enjoyed my new found love of documenting my everyday finds and adventures.

To Resolutions

20120108-_MG_2529

Now that the first week of January has passed I have started full throttle on my New Year resolutions. Currently on the list I have: workout more, bake regularly (this is actually my favorite activity), no more shopping (at least for January) and take time to enjoy my life and not stress all of the little stuff. So far so good, it may be just week one but 2012 is off to a good start.

Here is the first of a few gift guides this year to help you and me with holiday shopping.

Less is More

outfit 1

Shirt and Shorts: Madewell, Striped Bra: Free People, Necklace: Dannijo, Bag: Rebecca Minkoff, Sunnies: Prada, Watch: Mimco, Shoes: Topshop

Marc and I are finally back from our wonderful vacation in Italy. After a few days in Rome we spent the rest of our two weeks relaxing in Tuscany. While it was absolutely gorgeous, it was also sweltering and my outfits mostly consisted of shorts and tanks. The less clothing the better.

Roman Holiday

Romper and Vest: Topshop, Hat: Madewell, Shoes: Sam Edelman, Bag: Rebecca Minkoff, Watch: Mimco, Jewelry: David Yurman, Sunnies: Prada

outfit 1_13

On our first day in Rome, Marc and I played tourist. Having been to Rome before we had the luxury of getting to leisurely walk around the city and visit the sites.
I was more than thrilled to get to wear this floral romper I bought at Topshop almost 2 years ago. Since it is always freezing in SF this was actually only the 3rd time I had ever worn the romper, the first time was in Vegas and the second time was in India.
Once 3 p.m. rolled around and there was absolutely NO shade to be found in all of Rome, we decided it was time to nap and headed back to the hotel. It was a perfect day in Rome, before a very long and lovely night.
